Mine Has Powerful Women And An Interesting Plot

Following the conclusion of Vincenzo, Mine took over my Saturday and Sunday evenings. Starring Lee Boyoung, Kim Seohyung, VIXX’s Cha Hakyeon and Lee Hyunwook and a revenge plot, Mine had me intrigued.

Mine is the most recent drama I have finished (at the time of writing this, it’s mid July right now, hello future) and it was a good one. I am not the biggest fan of revenge dramas as they usually involve cheating and intrigue, but the cast, especially Hakyeon made me tune in for Mine. And boy, did I not regret it! This is a drama about women power and I am here for it. I love women, I love powerful women, I love women teaming up to destroy men, have I mentioned I love women? Anyhow, let’s get into the review.

As always first Mine‘s synopsis via AsianWiki: A story of women who try to find their true selves, freeing themselves from prejudices in the world. Seo Hi-Soo (Lee Bo-Young) was a star actress, but she gave up her career to marry the second son of a chaebol family. The chaebol family runs the Hyowon Group. She does her best to fit in as a daughter-in-law of that family. She acts confidently all the time to not to lose her true self. Jung Seo-Hyun (Kim Seo-Hyung) is married to the first son of the same chaebol family. She is also the daughter of a chaebol family. She is elegant and intelligent. She is also very rational.

First of all Hisoo is the love of my life (Can’t believe the actress gets to sleep with Jisung in bed every night wanna be in that sandwich). What a woman and what a mom! Her character is the best alongside of Seohyun! These two women really know how to support each other and stand up for themselves and what is right. Ugh that part of the drama was so good. You’d expect them to be rivals but no they love and support each other and that made Mine already a win in my book. And yes, there is a third lady coming in and joining the badass team of strong women!

As for the cheating part of the drama, it wasn’t that big of a part of it but I need Lee Hyunwook to stop playing cheating a**holes. he did it during She Would Never Know and he did it here like why?! The hot man he could be. Honestly, the way he handled the hate he got for this character though was hilarious. A King!

Mine is more of a murder mystery and it goes a bit crazy and unrealistic but I really was glued to my screen the entire time and those 16 episodes never let me down and entertained me full. Such a good drama to follow up Vincenzo, and The Devil Judge is doing a great job so far as well (that aged like cheese). TvN on a roll this year it seems. Mine had a fantastic ending, it couldn’t have been done better and I am satisfied.

I also wanna shout out the queer rep during the drama it was nicely done and makes Kim Seohyung a fantastic woman. I wish she would kick her weird husband to the curb and marry me instead.

One thing to close this off… I guess Hakyeon was barely there during the drama… his screen time got less and less and what the role of the maid was supposed to be I didn’t understand either. Neither of them matter at all for the main plot. They were just… there giving us some cute slightly creepy scenes during the beginning. Weird, I’d like that subplot redone maybe… That’s the one part Mine didn’t do quite right. The writers forgot about some of the characters half way through the plot. A bit of a waste mhm.
